This week the Smart Camper’s Voice will be featuring another US state and some of its best camping sites. The honor this week goes to California. Better known as “The Golden State” California borders Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and Mexico. It is the third biggest state only beat by Alaska and Texas, California has everything a camper may be looking for. From a harsh desert to beautiful beaches, Cali offers an amazing variety of scenarios for every type of camper. If you are looking for a quiet place to gaze at the stars at night or all the fun in the sun that outdoor activities may bring, Cali has them all. Let’s take a look into 3 of the best camping destinations in California.
Yosemite National Park: A traditional spot for campers over the years, Yosemite National Park has 13 different campgrounds. Due to the time of the year, some campsites might be closed due to snow. You may want to call first since some of the campgrounds require reservations. The activities are so many that we won’t even try to list them but from bird watching to rock climbing, Yosemite has them all.
Death Valley National Park: Don’t let it’s name scare you away, this national park is an excellent choice for any camping aficionado. Largest US park outside Alaska, Death Valley’s wilderness is protected in a staggering 91%. Nice and dry most of the year, you may experience some winter storms this time of the year. With nine campsites, this is a location you won’t forget that easily.
Point Reyes National Seashore: A dream come true for any photographer, Point Reyes is filled with breathtaking views. With a biodiversity of over 1500 species of plants and animals. It’s five different campgrounds will bring you from coastal camping next to the sea to sky camping up in skirts of Mt. Wittenberg.
