Camping in Costa Rica /Part 2
Guanacaste: The Best Beaches to Camp
If you are planning a vacation during this coming season and you are not entirely convinced by the lodging options, try one of the most underestimated alternatives: camping. There are plenty of options for you to experience, surrounded by nature in some areas authorized for camping, near the beach. Below are some recommendations for beautiful beaches to camp in Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
Also known as Peña Bruja, due to the prominent rock embedded in the sea, this is a remote beach that can only be accessed through the Santa Rosa National Park or by boat, which is why many tourists choose to camp there. The remoteness of the villages and the absence of shops make it a sanctuary to appreciate the mixture of diverse ecosystems and their geological formations. If you do not want to return to the city on the same day, the Guanacaste conservation area offers a specially designated place to camp near the beach.
Activities: Surfing, hiking, camping
If you are dating alone with nature, you should go to Junquillal, in the canton of La Cruz de Guanacaste. Within the Guanacaste Conservation Area there is the Bahía Junquillal National Wildlife Refuge, where you can camp along the beach in the Guanacaste Conservation Area campsite. You can access both by vehicle and bus.
Activities: Diving, fishing, hiking, horseback riding.
In the middle of one of the most visited areas in Guanacaste, there is a beach that still maintains its privacy: Playa Potrero which can be reached in about 5 minutes from Flamingo. Camping Mayra is an option for camping.
